State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry
Mr. Yosuke Takagi was appointed State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on September 4, 2014, followed by his reappointment on December 25, 2014, on October 9, 2015 and on August 5, 2016.
Mr. Takagi was Chairman of the Diet Committee on Internal Affairs and Communications. Prior to this assignment, he held several senior roles in the Komeito Party including Chairman of the Public Relations Committee and Acting Secretary-General.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Takagi served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
In 1993, at the age of 33, Mr. Takagi first won election to Japan’s Diet as a representative for Tokyo’s 11th district. Subsequently, he has successfully won reelection to the Diet five times.
Prior to assuming elected office, Mr. Takagi worked as a reporter for national newspaper the Mainichi Shimbun. Mr. Takagi is a graduate of Soka University’s faculty of law.
Mr. Takagi is married with three children, two sons and a daughter.
He was born on December 16, 1959 in Tokyo.
