Strengthening the national movement for energy conservation

Summary
With increasing energy demands in the business and household sectors, METI has been aware of the need to enhance the national movement in the energy conservation field in preparation for the upcoming start of the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol in FY 2008. To meet this need, METI convened a vice-ministerial-level meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Liaison Committee for the Promotion of Energy and Resource Conservation Measures. METI hereby announces that the committee approved a document titled "Strengthening the National Movement for Energy Conservation, " the basic policy on the national movement for energy conservation in the business, household and other sectors, and "Winter Energy Conservation Measures," the policy on this winter's national energy conservation movement.
