Current Status of Japan's Economy
Summary of the Regional Economic and Industrial Research Results (General)
The regional bureaus of economy, trade and industry (including the Hokuriku Branch of Electricity and Gas Industry and Economy, Trade and Industry Department of Okinawa General Bureau) conduct hearings from enterprises in their areas and collect and analyze the results four times a year (February, May, August and November). The purpose is to understand the economic trends of the regions including business conditions and production and investment in plant and equipment at the enterprises.

Fixed Point Observation of Japan’s Economy and Industry
The relevant divisions of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) conduct hearings from major enterprises of industries on business conditions, forecasts, changes in the business management environment, trends of investment in plant and equipment, etc., and compile the results. These give opportunities to hear directly enterprises, whose opinions and information are rarely reflected quickly in economic indices, and the information gathered mainly focuses on the current situation and prospects of Japan’s economy.
