Great East Japan Earthquake-related SME Measures No. 32

Call for Restoration and Construction Subsidy Projects for Facilities and Equipment of Small and Medium Enterprises

In the FY 2011 preliminary supplementary budget, the following measures are conducted:
1) Subsidy for restoration of facilities and equipment indispensable for recovery plans to be promoted integrally by small and medium enterprises (SMEs);
2) Subsidy for restoration of facilities that belong to business associations and chambers of commerce and industry; and
3) Subsidy for restoration of commonly used facilities that belong to business cooperatives or other associations of SMEs
Application for these subsidies is called for by the related organizations as shown below.

1. Restoration and construction subsidy project for facilities and equipment applicable to groups of SMEs

In Aomori, Iwate and Miyagi Prefectures, application for approval of a “recovery project plan”, which is required for grant of subsidy, will be invited as follows. For application filing and any questions, please contact the relevant prefecture.

(Summary of the project)

If a group of SMEs in the earthquake-affected area prepares a recovery project plan and the prefecture recognizes that the plan will play an important role in the regional economy and employment, that plan will be approved and subsidized. Among the costs for restoration and construction of facilities and equipment, 50% will be granted from the national government and 25% will be granted from the prefecture.

2. Restoration subsidy project for facilities to support SMEs of Business Associations and Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Central Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry (CFSCIJ) and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) will invite applications as follows:

Among the costs for restoration of CFSCIJ and JCCI facilities to support small and medium enterprises (through business consultation, for example), 50% will be granted from the government.

3. Restoration subsidy project for common facilities of SME cooperatives

After the budgets for these measures are approved in each prefecture, invitation for this subsidy will be offered in or after July. If you have any questions, please, contact the prefecture concerned.

Among the costs for restoration of facilities and equipment commonly used by business cooperatives or other associations of small and medium enterprises, 50% will be granted from the government and 25% will be granted from the prefecture.
