Enhancing collaboration between the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency and Japan Federation of Bar Associations (Preparation of Joint Communiqué)
The Small and Medium Enterprise Agency (SMEA) and Japan Federation of Bar Associations (JFBA) are coping with supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in regard to solving legal issues. They decided to enhance their collaboration including their response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and prepared a joint communiqué.
1. Progress
Considering that SMEs are facing various legal problems, SMEA and JFBA have formulated the joint communiqués “Collaboration between SMEA and JFBA to support legal problem solution of small and medium enterprises” (February 6, 2007) and “Enhancing collaboration between SMEA and JFBA to support legal problem solution of small and medium Enterprises” (March 18, 2010), and have cooperated mutually to support SMEs in solving legal problems.
They acknowledged today (June 15) that they would further enhance their collaboration including their response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and prepared a joint communiqué as attached (in Japanese).![]()

2. Major contents of collaboration
SMEA and JFBA have further enhanced the following activities such as consultations related to the Great East Japan Earthquake:
- Further enhancement of telephone consultation service by attorneys via “Himawari Hot-Dial” (TEL: 0570-001-240)
- Enhancement of collaboration among JFBA, regional bar associations and organizations related to SMEs
- Further participation by attorneys in measures to support SMEs in the fields of business rehabilitation, business succession, subcontracting etc.
