Second stage of METI’s effort to foster recovery and development of areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake: Support for monodzukuri in the disaster-affected areas
- Sale and Exhibition of traditional handicrafts, household goods and knit products made in the affected areas -

To foster the recovery and development of areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) is organizing a series of nationwide publicity and market cultivation events for products produced in these areas.

In the first stage, METI hosted a "Ganbare Fukushima Support Fair!" on Wednesday, May 25, in front of the main entrance of the METI main building to sell fresh vegetables and processed foods made in Fukushima Prefecture. The fair attracted many people in support of the project and ended up being a great success.

METI's second-stage project, titled "Support for Monodzukuri (manufacturing) in the disaster affected areas," will be an exhibition of products produced in the affected areas, including traditional handicrafts, household goods and knit products. The event will take place from Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 8 in the exhibition lobby on the first floor of the METI main building. On the first day (June 27), some of the products will be sold.

METI earnestly invites citizens to visit the upcoming event.

1.Schedule

Period: Monday, June 27 to Friday, July 8 (except Saturdays and Sundays)
Place: Exhibition lobby on the first floor of the METI main building
Event description: Exhibition and sale of traditional handicrafts, household goods (tableware, interior goods, etc.), knit products and more from Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate prefectures.

Products will be sold only on the first day (June 27).
- Time: 11:30 to 13:30
- Place: In front of the main entrance of the METI main building

Both the exhibition and sale are open to the public. METI sincerely hopes that many citizens will visit the event.
Some of the products on sale may be ordered and delivered.

3.Next step

Following this event, METI will launch a nationwide campaign to support publicity and market cultivation activities for products produced in the quake-stricken areas. For further information, please visit METI's website on this topic.

4.Location of METI

Address: 1-3-1 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
Access: The closest subway exit to get to the main building is Exit A12a of Kasumigaseki Station (Tokyo Metro Marunouchi, Hibiya and Chiyoda lines).
Also close are Exit 7 of Toranomon Station (Ginza Line) and Hibiya-side exits of Uchisaiwai-cho Station (Toei Subway Mita Line).
