- METI’s electricity saving action plan
METI’s electricity saving action plan
1. Saving target for individual facilities
In principle, METI aims to achieve a 15% or more saving in maximum electricity usage during the peak hours/time from the electricity usage standard (in kilowatts) at its facilities located in the service areas of Tokyo Electric Power Co. and Tohoku Electric Power Co. Under the action plan, the saving target is 20% for the METI main building, 21% for the Japan Patent Office, 15% for the Training Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry, and over 15% for other facilities.
2. Key measures to save electricity
The following measures will be implemented based on the situation of each energy-consuming facility.
| Air conditioning | Enforcing the temperature setting of 28°C, leveling out electricity usage (by wisely operating the system), improving cooling efficiency (by using blinds and electric fans), implementing the Cool Biz policy |
|---|---|
| Lighting | Turning off or removing unnecessary lights and using LED lights |
| Office equipment | Strictly saving power for PCs, reducing the number of printers and copiers to be used |
| Other equipment | Reducing the number of elevators in service, deactivating automatic doors |
