Exchange of Diplomatic Notes concerning the Entry into Force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Japan and the Republic of India
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Japan and the Republic of India will enter into force on August 1.
- The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Japan and the Republic of India will enter into force on August 1.
- This Agreement stipulates to liberalize and facilitate trade, promote investment, and improve systems in related fields between Japan and India, which is the third largest economy in Asia with remarkable growth in recent years.
- It is expected that the entry into force of this Agreement will further strengthen the economic relationship between the two countries, and will provide major impetus for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership in East Asia (CEPEA) pursued by ASEAN+6.

This Agreement is Japan’s 12th EPA that will enter into force, following the Japan-Singapore, Japan-Mexico, Japan-Malaysia, Japan-Chile, Japan-Thailand, Japan-Indonesia, Japan-Brunei, Japan-ASEAN, Japan-Philippines, Japan-Switzerland, and Japan-Viet Nam EPAs, which are already in effect.
