- Starting services to send tighter electricity supply-demand balance notifications to mobile phones
Starting services to send tighter electricity supply-demand balance notifications to mobile phones
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will start a service providing information on a tighter electricity supply-demand balance to mobile phones and smartphones. The information will be sent to those within Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Tohoku Electric Power Company (Tohoku EPCO) service areas in cases where there is the possibility of the implementation of rolling blackouts due to a serious shortage of electricity this summer.
You can register for the service and download the necessary software on your phone starting from today (*).
* The program is not available on some phone terminals and in some areas.
1. Objective
We are asking those of you who reside and work within Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and Tohoku Electric Power Company (Tohoku EPCO) service areas to evenly save electricity by 15% this summer. Should the supply-demand balance of electricity become tight and the possibility of the implementation of rolling blackouts become higher, the government will issue an alert for the condition of a tighter electricity supply-demand balance. In order to inform you of the alert issuance immediately, we will start the service to provide information to mobile phones and smartphones.
2. E-mail to General Mobile Phones
Distribution
If the alert for a tighter electricity supply-demand balance is issued at 18:00 on the day before the date with the possibility of rolling blackouts, notification of the tighter electricity supply-demand balance and the electricity saving actions registered in advance will be sent via e-mail.
