The 37th Expanded METI Regional Bureau Director-Generals Conference

On September 7, the 37th Expanded METI Regional Bureau Director-Generals Conference was held. At the conference, the latest status of Japan’s regional economy, the results of survey concerning the impact of the currently strong yen on industry, and a summary of the electricity supply-demand measures in summer time were presented.

With the aim of accurately understanding economic trends and the actual conditions of industries in each region and promptly planning and implementing policies, the conferences have been held as a direct discussion forum between METI executives, such as the Minister, Senior Vice Ministers and Vice Ministers, and the Director-Generals of the ten regional Bureaus of Economy, Trade and Industry (including the Director-General of the Hokuriku Branch of the Electricity and Gas Industry and the Director-General of the Economy, Trade and Industry Department of the Okinawa General Bureau). (The previous conference was held on August 1, 2011.)
