Cabinet Ordinance to Partially Amend the Order for Enforcement of the Act on Issuance of Certificates of Origin Pursuant to the Economic Partnership Agreement
The "Cabinet Ordinance to Partially Amend the Order for Enforcement of the Act on Issuance of Certificates of Origin Pursuant to the Economic Partnership Agreement" was decided by the Cabinet today.
Toward the entry into force of the "Agreement between Japan and the Republic of Peru for an Economic Partnership" (Japan-Peru EPA) and the "Protocol Amending the Agreement between Japan and the United Mexican States for the Strengthening of the Economic Partnership," the above Cabinet Ordinance provides for the necessary measures, including defining the Japan-Peru EPA as an economic partnership agreement for which certificates of origin may be issued under the "Act on Issuance of Certificates of Origin Pursuant to the Economic Partnership Agreement."
1. Summary of the Cabinet Ordinance
This Cabinet Ordinance
- defines the Japan-Peru EPA as an economic partnership agreement covered by the Act on Issuance of Certificates of Origin Pursuant to Economic Partnership Agreement;
- adds the Agreement between Japan and the United Mexican States for the Strengthening of the Economic Partnership as an economic partnership agreement for which certified exporters may issue certificates of origin; and
- provides for necessary amendments, including the establishment of the period during which applications and other materials submitted by the applicants for certificates of origin should be retained by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry pursuant to the Japan-Peru EPA.
