Announcement of successful applicants for the Smart House International Standardization Research Program
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) selected successful applicants for the Smart House International Standardization Research Program (FY 2011 Subsidy for Next-Generation Energy and Social System Demonstration Projects <Connection and Control Technology Research Program for Energy Management System Standardization>) through careful examination by external experts.
1. Program outline
METI will conduct technological verifications needed for the harmonization of smart house standards in Japan and those under development in the U.S. and for the establishment of international standards for energy management systems as the basis of smart house. The verifications will be intensively performed in the next three years in coordination with smart community demonstration projects underway in four areas (Yokohama, Toyota, Keihanna and Kitakyushu).
Toward this goal, the program will build technological demonstration sites around a key university that has accumulated technologies relevant to smart grid and smart house.
2. Selection process
Applications were accepted from February 24 to March 15, 2012. One application was submitted from a consortium during this period. METI decided on this applicant based on the results of examination by external experts.
* Applications were solicited and accepted by the New Energy Promotion Council (http://www.nepc.or.jp/
), which implements the subsidy program.
