Successful Applicants Adopted in FY 2012 “Global Warming Mitigation Technology Promotion Project” (the First Public Invitation)
Regarding the first public invitation on the FY 2012 “Global Warming Mitigation Technology Promotion Project,” the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has selected 15 successful applicants and their plans through a fair examination of the Examination Committee composed of outside experts, and METI hereby releases these applicants.
1. Outline of the project
Japan is now aiming at the establishment of a new framework, provisionally called the Bilateral Offsetting Credit Mechanism, for appropriately evaluating decreased amount of greenhouse gas emissions through actions, such as dissemination of low-carbon technology, including electricity saving technology, new energy technology and coal-fired power, that have not been fully evaluated yet under the current Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), as a part of Japan’s actions to positively promote such dissemination of low-carbon technology or products, in which Japan exercises global leadership, and to facilitate conducting global warming countermeasures on a global level.
In this project, for the purpose of smooth establishment of the Bilateral Offsetting Credit Mechanism, Japan will conduct a survey related to a new policy recommendation to any nation that may agree to adopt the mechanism, in which Japan would promote dissemination of Japan’s low-carbon technology or products, or related to the new project scheme for such dissemination, which would be coordinated with such a recommendation.
2. Selected applicants and their plans
METI called for possible applicants and their plans for the project from February 29 to March 21, 2012, and selected 15 successful applicants out of 31 through an examination of outside experts, which are shown in Appendix(PDF:41KB).
