In order to promote energy conservation measures for the winter period from November to March, the Inter-Ministerial Liaison Council for the Promotion of Energy and Resource Conservation Measures was held and decided the Winter Energy Conservation Measures.
- The Inter-Ministerial Liaison Council for the Promotion of Energy and Resource Conservation Measures consists of representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, and it meets every year before the beginning of summer and winter, which are the high-energy consuming seasons. The council approved the Winter Energy Conservation Measures today, November 2, 2012, as described in the Appendix(PDF:677KB) (in Japanese).
- Since it is highly requested to take necessary measures on electricity supply and demand this winter, these energy conservation measures will promote efforts to save energy alongside the Electricity Supply-Demand Measures which are to be determined separately.
- The government will ask the public to cooperate in putting such energy conservation and electricity saving measures into practice.
- The government will also take the lead in making efforts to save energy and conserve electricity, such as moderating the temperature settings of air conditioners and reducing lighting.
