The Governments of Japan and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar will hold the first round of negotiations for the Japan-Myanmar Investment Agreement in Yangon, Myanmar, on December 11, 2012.
- On December 11, 2012, the Governments of Japan and Myanmar will hold the first round of negotiations for the Japan-Myanmar Investment Agreement in Yangon, Myanmar.
- Officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will attend the negotiation.
- At the round, opinions will be exchanged on the details of the agreement, aiming at an early conclusion.

In December 2011, the foreign ministers of Japan and Myanmar agreed on beginning discussions on a bilateral investment agreement at the Japan-Myanmar Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in December 2011. Toward this goal, both countries held two preliminary meetings in February and May 2012.
