Announcement of Projects Selected under FY2012 “Subsidy Program for Projects Promoting Asian Site Location in Japan”

Regarding "Subsidy Program for Projects Promoting Asian Site Location in Japan," that supports global companies' establishment of new high- value-added business locations in Japan, four successful applicants were selected, as listed below.

1. Program overview and background

This program is intended to attract and concentrate high-value-added business operations that match the strength of the Japanese economy by supporting global companies' establishment of new high-value-added business locations in Japan, such as Head Sites*1 or R&D Sites*2. METI expects this program to improve Japan's status as an Asian business center.

*Note 1; "Head Site" herein shall refer to facilities for supervisory operations relating to project policy decisions or coordination for controlled group companies in two or more countries.

*Note 2; "R&D Site" herein shall refer to facilities needed to carry out R&D, such as industrialization through research, applied development, trials and product testing, in advanced industrial technologies in accordance with technological innovation.

* The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is the secretariat that implements the program, and accepted the project proposals for the program from the general public from Tuesday, August 28 to Monday, November 19, 2012. Four of them were selected following the result of the proposal examination by the third-party committee consisting of external experts.
