- METI to Hold Report Meetings in Indonesia and Viet Nam about Feasibility Studies on the Joint Crediting Mechanism / Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (JCM/BOCM)
Joint Press Release with the Ministry of the EnvironmentMETI to Hold Report Meetings in Indonesia and Viet Nam about Feasibility Studies on the Joint Crediting Mechanism / Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (JCM/BOCM)-Contributing to the Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Other Efforts through Japan’s Low-Carbon Technology-
In late February 2013, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and other organizations will hold report meetings about feasibility studies on the Joint Crediting Mechanism / Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (hereinafter called the "JCM/BOCM") in the Republic of Indonesia and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, for the purpose of disseminating Japan's low-carbon technology in these countries through the JCM/BOCM.
- Concerning the JCM/BOCM, METI, the Ministry of the Environment (MOE), and the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) are currently conducting feasibility studies and MRV (to measure, report and verify) demonstration studies in Indonesia and Viet Nam. Currently, in FY2012, 25 cases in Indonesia and 16 in Viet Nam are being studied.
- In these countries, METI, MOE and NEDO will hold report meetings on the results of these studies, to which they will invite government officials as well as others.

The Joint Crediting Mechanism / Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (JCM/BOCM) is a program in which Japan's contribution to the reduction and absorption of greenhouse gas emissions in partner countries through transferring Japan's low-carbon technology and products is properly evaluated as credits that will be used for achieving Japan's emissions reduction target.
Japan has proposed the mechanisms as a part of the new market mechanism that contributes to the global reduction and absorption of greenhouse gas emissions.
