- METI to Hold Training Courses to Enhance Information Security of the ASEAN Region
METI to Hold Training Courses to Enhance Information Security of the ASEAN Region-Aiming at Improvement of the Investment Environment in the ASEAN Region through Enhancing Information Security-
From February 25 to March 1, 2013, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold training courses to enhance information security of the ASEAN region as a part of the FY2012 Trade and Investment Facilitation Support Program.
The courses will be held in response to the request from ASEAN when the Fifth Japan-ASEAN Information Security Policy Meeting was held in Tokyo in October 2012. In the courses, participants from public and private entity sectors in the ASEAN economies and the ASEAN Secretariat will receive training on the Information Security Management System (ISMS), which is an international standard on information security management.
1. Purpose of the training
ISMS contributes to the development of institutional information management systems, creating an atmosphere of external trust on information security, and reducing the probability of incident occurrence or damage caused by such incidents.
METI expects that the training will help people involved in ASEAN to develop a better understanding of the importance of ISMS and information security in general, and that participants will promote ISMS in their own countries for the purpose of improving information security in the ASEAN region.
Enhancement of information security in the region will encourage improvement of the investment environments in communities there, and also contribute to the activities of Japanese companies that are now considering expanding their business in the region.
