On March 13, 2013, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) held the First Poland-Japan Energy Policy Dialogue in Tokyo. Japan and the Republic of Poland exchanged views on their energy situations and policies.
- On March 13, 2013, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) held the First Poland-Japan Energy Policy Dialogue.
- At the beginning of the dialogue, Mr. Kazuyoshi Akaba, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Tomasz Tomczykiewicz, Secretary of State of Poland, made remarks on the energy situation in both countries and the future cooperation between the countries. Following the remarks, officials in charge of policies from both sides confirmed the past condition of prior Japan-Poland cooperation in the fields of nuclear power, coal (clean coal technology), and renewable energy, while discussing the future direction of cooperation. At the same time, both sides exchanged views on the outline of their energy policies.
Note: Background of holding the dialogue
The dialogue was held in response to the talks between former Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland about the potential of the cooperation between the countries in the energy field on the occasion of the summit meeting held on November 5, 2012.
