Results of the 30th Meeting of the Domestic Credit Certification Committee258 Applications for Domestic Credit Certification Approved (nearly 330,000 t-CO2)—Record-high Approval!
The 30th meeting of the Domestic Credit Certification Committee was held on Monday, March 18, 2013, and 258 applications for domestic credit certification (total amount of domestic credits: 329,582 t-CO2) were approved.
1. Domestic Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)
The Domestic CDM was commenced in October 2008 and certifies, as domestic credits, the amount of greenhouse gas emissions reduced by small and medium-sized enterprises through such efforts as the introduction of energy-saving machinery and equipment. It allows companies utilizing credits (joint operators) to purchase such domestic credits and utilize them for achieving the goals of their action plans and conducting CSR activities or promoting carbon offsets for the purpose of contributing to preventing global warming and revitalizing local communities.
The 30th meeting of the Domestic Credit Certification Committee was held and applications for domestic credit certification and emissions reduction projects were approved as follows.
As additional information, in FY2013, the CDM will be integrated into the Japan Verified Emission Reduction System (J-VER), and the J-Credit Scheme is to be started as a new system.
2. Domestic credit certification
The Committee approved 258 applications for domestic credit certification (total amount of domestic credits: 329,582 t-CO2).
3. Approval of emissions-reduction projects*
The committee approved 199 emissions-reduction projects, making a total of 1,466 approved.
* Emissions-reduction projects refer to projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through such efforts as the renovation of boiler facilities and the introduction of photovoltaic power generation facilities.
