On March 28, 2013, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) authorized a business restructuring plan submitted by Yanmar Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Seirei Industry Co., Ltd.
In accordance with this plan, both companies will be merged and will aggregate separate production sites for manufacturing tractors, combines, and rice planters in Shiga and Okayama Prefectures into the Okayama plant. They will also carry out the consolidated production of such machinery. By doing so, the companies aim to improve their productivity.
1. Authorization of Business Restructuring Plan
METI examined the business restructuring plan submitted by Yanmar Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing and Seirei Industry pursuant to Article 5, paragraph (6) of the Act on Special Measures for Industrial Revitalization and Innovation. METI concluded that the companies satisfied the requirements specified by said Act as an entrepreneur who is to carry out a change in business structure defined by Article 2, paragraph (4), item (i) of said Act as well as business innovation defined by Article 2, paragraph (4), item (ii) of said Act, and authorized the plan.
