The second round of negotiations for Japan-Canada Economic Partnership Agreement was held in Ottawa from Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26.

  1. The second round of negotiations for Japan-Canada Economic Partnership Agreement was held in Ottawa from Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26.
  2. The meeting was attended by, on the Japanese side, Mr. Jun Yokota, Ambassador in charge of Economic Diplomacy (Chief Delegate) and representatives from other relevant ministries, and on the Canadian side, Mr. Ian Burney, Assistant Deputy Minister for Trade Policy and Negotiations, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (Chief Negotiator) and representatives from other relevant departments.
  3. In this round, fruitful discussions were held in areas including Trade in Goods and Services, Rules of Origin, Intellectual Property and Competition and good progress was made in each area.
  4. The schedule of the next round of negotiations will be determined through diplomatic channels later.
