METI is Holding an EV & PHV Town Symposium in Tokyo

EVs and PHVs outperform other vehicles in terms of environmental performance and energy efficiency, and competition in their market is intensifying worldwide. The full-scale diffusion of these vehicles is essential if Japan is to successfully combat global warming, ensure energy security, and enhance the competitiveness of the Japanese automotive industry.

METI has designated places making pioneering efforts to spread the use of EVs and PHVs as EV & PHV Towns. Based on the results of intensive promotion efforts in these EV & PHV Towns, METI aims to develop diffusion models for the vehicles and apply them throughout the country.

In order to introduce the latest efforts to the whole of Japan, mainly focusing on the development of charging infrastructures that are essential to the dissemination of EVs and PHVs, METI will organize an event titled the EV & PHV Town Symposium in Tokyo, and will invite people involved in the field in Japan and abroad.
