Calling for Applicants for the FY2014 Subsidy Program for Projects Promoting Foreign Direct Investment, Site Location and Regional Development in Japan (Program for Japan’s Infrastructure Development for Promoting Establishment of New Business Facilities)

The program aims to promote regional development by subsidizing setup costs for new business facilities. It supports the formation and development of industrial clusters in cluster zones prepared by municipalities and approved by the government under the Act on Formation and Development of Regional Industrial Clusters through Promotion of Establishment of New Business Facilities, etc. (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”) to support business operators’ efforts, strengthen the global competitiveness of Japanese industry and develop Japan’s regional economies.

The Ministry of Economy hereby calls for applicants that will carry out the program in FY2014, based on the following guidance.

Projects entitled to subsidies

Project for developing facilities [i] to be utilized as infrastructure for forming and developing industrial clusters in cluster zones designated under the Act, and [ii] which are recognized as contributing to strengthening the global competitiveness of Japanese industry as well as stimulating regional economies.

Facilities and apparatuses entitled to subsidies

Rental plants, rental workplaces, prototype apparatuses, and testing apparatuses

Subsidy rates of the total cost

Within one-half of the total cost for the subsidized project

Business operators entitled to subsidies

Regional incorporated administrative agencies and incorporated administrative agencies, general incorporated associations and general incorporated foundations, public interest incorporated associations and public interest incorporated foundations, third sector entities, private entities, including PFI (Private Finance Initiative) entities

Invitation period

From March 17 (Mon) to midday of April 17 (Thurs), 2014
