Announcement of an Interim Report of the “Ito Review” of the “Competitiveness and Incentives for Sustainable Growth: Building Favorable Relationships between Companies and Investors”

With the secretariat operated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the “Ito Review” of the “Competitiveness and Incentives for Sustainable Growth: Building Favorable Relationships between Companies and Investors” project (hereinafter referred to as the “review”; chaired by Dr. Kunio Ito, professor, Graduate School of Commerce and Management, Hitotsubashi University) have been discussing challenges to be overcome in order to enhance the competitiveness of Japanese companies to support their sustainable growth as well as to consider creating new favorable capital markets that would support such growth.

In October 2013, the project released "main issues to be discussed" and called for a wide range of evidence and information on the issues from companies, investors and other people involved in this field not only in Japan but also in other countries. Based on the information and evidence received, the members of the review intensively analyzed and discussed the main issues and finally compiled an interim report. METI hereby publicizes the report
