Joint Press Release with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and TourismThe EU-Japan 2nd Railway Industrial Dialogue to be Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), jointly with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and other entities, will hold the EU-Japan 2nd Railway Industrial Dialogue in Tokyo, aiming to enhance mutual market access opportunities in the railways sector.

1. Outline of the dialogue

The dialogue aims to exchange views and information between Japan and the EU concerning the characteristics of the respective railway markets and other related issues, thereby deepening mutual understanding and enhancing mutual market access opportunities in Japan and the EU. MLIT and the Directorate General of Internal Market and Services, European Commission, are to alternate in taking responsibility for organizing the regular dialogues, with related parties from both sides, from the governments, railway operators, suppliers, and industrial associations in attendance.

At the second dialogue, participants will exchange information on measures for enhancing market access related to railway procurement, formulating a plan for railway development, technical regulations and standards, and other initiatives.
