Announcement of the Winners of the First Nippon Venture Awards

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has launched the Nippon Venture Awards program to recognize Japan’s outstanding venture businesses, jointly with the Venture Business Creation Council as a secretariat. METI hereby announces that it selected the winners in cooperation with the council, including the winner of the Prime Minister’s Award, a newly-created award for the first time in such venture-recognition programs.

On January 22, 2015, a commendation ceremony was held at the Hotel New Otani (Kioicho, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), and Prime Minister Abe and METI Minister Miyazawa granted the winners certificates of merit.

1. Outline of the program

The program aims to recognize and honor outstanding venture businesses for their creation of new impressive business, which act as role models for the public, particularly young people, and to disseminate the significance of bold challenges and social appraisal for entrepreneurs in general to the public, particularly people intending to become entrepreneurs, thereby thoroughly raising the public awareness of business start-ups.

Under the program, METI selected one winner for the Prime Minister’s Award, two for the METI Minister’s Awards, and two for the Special Jury Awards.
