From February 9 to 17, 2015, a mission from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducted a review on the plans for the decommissioning of Tokyo Electric Power Company’s (TEPCO’s) Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1 to 4. On February 17, 2015, METI received a preliminary summary report from the mission and hereby makes it public.

Outline

The Government of Japan has been making efforts for the decommissioning of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1 to 4 according to the Mid-and-Long-Term Roadmap towards the Decommissioning of TEPCO’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Units 1 to 4. From February 9 to 17, 2015, an IAEA review mission visited Japan in response to Japan’s request, and conducted a review on the efforts from a global point of view. Following the review, Mr. Yosuke Takagi, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, received a preliminary summary report from the mission.

METI hereby publicizes the report and the IAEA’s press release issued on February 17.

The report shows the mission’s acknowledgements and advisory points on the efforts.

IAEA also makes the report and the press release public on the same day.*
