Robotics Policy Office is to be Established in METI- METI strengthens efforts toward promotion of proactive use of robots -
In accordance with the approval of “Japan’s Robot Strategy” (approved by the Headquarters for Japan's Economic Revitalization in February 2015), the Robotics Policy Office was launched on July 1, 2015, in the Industrial Machinery Division of the Manufacturing Industries Bureau, in order to promote the proactive use of robots in various fields including the service field, and to drive the promotion of the robot industry.
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) established the Robotics Policy Office under the Industrial Machinery Division of the Manufacturing Industries Bureau in order to drive regulatory reform that is well-balanced both in terms of deregulation and establishment of new rules from the standpoint of achieving the proactive use of robots and international standardization focusing on global business, and to make more appropriate, effective progress in the proactive use of robots in various fields such as the service field and in the promotion of the robot industry by comprehensively supervising affairs regarding the use of robots.
