METI to Start NIPPON QUESTTM- Website for the discovery and dissemination of unknown Japanese “regional specialties” to the world -

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will start NIPPON QUESTTM, a website to showcase and disseminate unknown Japanese regional specialties to the world, in order to promote the revitalization of local areas through the Cool Japan strategy.

1. Outline of the website

NIPPON QUEST aims to comprehensively provide people in Japan and overseas with information on “regional specialties”, regional resources existing throughout Japan, by involving local communities, in order to encourage and build momentum towards the revitalization of regional economies through regional specialties, and so that many more people both throughout the world and in Japan will become aware of such specialties.

2. Functions of the NIPPON QUEST website

Anyone, whether an individual or a legal entity, can post contents on vaunted regional specialties under the categories “goods,” “foods,” and “activities.”

Evaluation and Ranking

Popular regional specialties will be evaluated and ranked using QP (Quest Power) Point system, which are automatically assigned using a unique algorithm.

The content on specialties posted in Japanese language will be translated into many languages, including English, and users can search in these languages.
