METI to Hold “JAPAN WEEKEND” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold the JAPAN WEEKEND event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, jointly and in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Foundation for Promotion of Music Industry and Culture (PROMIC), the Japan Tourism Agency (JTA), the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the Cool Japan Fund Inc., and Isetan Mitsukoshi Ltd.

Under the common title of “JAPAN WEEKEND,” a variety of events promoting Japan will be concurrently held in neighboring areas of the city focusing on three subjects—manga, music, and tourism—through collaboration between sectors, including collaboration through websites and social networking services (SNS) to attract public attention, the appearance of music artists at the MANGA Festival, business matching events held by the MANGA Festival and a JPOP Signature event, and video presentations and distribution of documents at an event designed to attract public attention to other events. Through these events, METI will advance various projects for promoting both the Cool Japan and Visit Japan initiatives under the framework of the All-Japan initiatives. In addition, METI will also attract public attention at these events to ISETAN The Japan Store Kuala Lumpur, a department store in Kuala Lumpur, which resumed business on October 27 (Thur.), 2016 after a renovation.
