IoT Acceleration Lab Will Hold an Event Titled the “Fourth IoT Lab Connection” for Theme-Based Project Organization and Business Collaboration among Companies

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and IoT Acceleration Lab will hold an event titled “Fourth IoT Lab Connection” on Monday, March 13, 2017 for theme-based project organization and collaboration among companies, aiming to create advanced projects utilizing IoT, to achieve public implementation of the projects, and to collaborate with the rest of the world.

In line with holding the event, on December 12, 2016, the IoT Acceleration Lab began to call for applicants for an event as part of the Fourth IoT Lab Connection titled “Solution Matching,” a business matching event between companies, associations and municipalities. METI and IoT Acceleration Lab are looking forward to receiving your application for the event.

1. Purpose

With the technological advent of IoT, AI, and big data, industrial and societal structures are seeing significant changes. In response to this situation, the IoT Acceleration Lab aims to create advanced projects utilizing IoT and achieve public implementation of such projects in Japan. To this end, it has been undertaking feasibility studies and related efforts, including reviewing regulations and systems necessary for the implementation and carrying out of actual demonstration projects, including creation of new cross-industry regulations to accelerate the development of the environment for IoT and other related technologies.

As part of the supportive efforts for collaboration among companies, in January 2016, the IoT Acceleration Lab held a Solution Matching event as part of the at the First IoT Lab Connection event, focusing on the two themes of tourism and manufacturing; in July 2016 it held the Second IoT Lab Connection, focusing on the two themes of health care/medical care and sports; and logistics, distribution and infrastructure; and, in October 2016, it held the Third IoT Lab Connection focusing on the two themes of smart homes and mobility.

At the Fourth IoT Lab Connection, the Solution Matching event will focus on three themes: [i] FinTech, [ii] education and [iii] agriculture and food, and will provide a business matching event targeting IoT Acceleration Lab member companies or corporate groups, associations and municipalities that have business models, technologies and services related to the themes.

METI and IoT Acceleration Lab are looking forward to receiving your proactive application.

Eligibility:
Participants should [i] have a membership in the IoT Acceleration Lab and [ii] observe the rules stipulated in the notes section on page 7 of the application guidelines.

Note: At the event, a presentation examination of finalists for the Third IoT Lab Selection and a commendation ceremony to approve selected projects under the Second Local IoT Acceleration Labs project will be held at the same facility of the event. These events will be open to the public. Other events titled “Data Innovation Workshop (tentative title)” and “Global Connections” are also scheduled to be held at the same facility, about which details will be announced on a separate occasion.
