National Mine Safety Week to be Held from July 1 to 7

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) will hold events for National Mine Safety Week from July 1 to 7, 2017.

In line with National Public Safety Day on July 1, METI has been annually holding National Mine Safety Week events since FY1950. This effort aims to encourage workers at mine sites to promote self-motivated safety activities and to raise such workers’ awareness of mine safety, thereby providing them with opportunities to further secure the prevention of mine disasters and mine pollution at the sites as well as broadly providing the public with opportunities to enhance their awareness and understanding of mine safety.

Following on from the previous years, in 2017, METI will also carry out a thorough check of safety measures taken at the sites, including simultaneous inspections of daily operations, and activities to raise public understanding.
