Invitation for Public Comments on the Draft of “the Cyber/Physical Security Framework“

Based on the discussions at the Working Group 1 under the Study Group for Industrial Cybersecurity established on December, 2017, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has drafted “The Cyber/Physical Security Framework”, and invite public comments as the following.

1. Background and Purpose

METI established the Study Group for Industrial Cybersecurity in December 2017 in order to deal with cybersecurity issues. METI also launched the Working Group 1 (Systems, Technologies and Standardization) on February 7, 2018, under the Study Group and started discussions concerning "the Cyber/Physical Security Framework", which aims to ensure appropriate cybersecurity for the whole supply chain in “Society 5.0”.

In “Society5.0” (human-centered society) and “Connected Industries”, the processes for producing products and services (supply chain) will take atypical form due to various connections, which is different from the conventional stereotyped and linear one.

In the Working Group 1, we defined the “Society5.0” type supply chain as “Value Creation Process” and introduced a draft of “the Cyber/Physical Security Framework” for secured “Value Creation Process”.

We invite public comment on the draft in order to receive various opinions.
