RCEP Participating Countries Releases a Joint Media Statement of the Fifth RCEP Intersessional Ministerial Meeting

On July 1 (Sun.), 2018, Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, hosted and attended the Fifth Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Intersessional Ministerial Meeting held in Tokyo. As a result of the meeting, the 16 RCEP Participating Countries (RPCs) released a Joint Media Statement.

The RCEP is a wide-area economic partnership, which is under negotiations among ten ASEAN economies and six countries (Japan, China, ROK, Australia, New Zealand and India). Japan aims for an early conclusion of a comprehensive, well-balanced and high-quality RCEP.

On July 1 (Sun.), 2018, Japan hosted the Fifth RCEP Intersessional Ministerial Meeting in Tokyo. As a result of the meeting, the 16 RPCs released a Joint Media Statement.

This Tokyo meeting was a Ministerial Meeting that Japan, a non-ASEAN country, hosted for the first time in the almost five-year RCEP negotiation history.
