The IoT Acceleration Lab Will Hold the “Seventh IoT Lab Connection” and a Commendation Ceremony for Winners of the Fourth IoT Lab Selection

July 2, 2018

On July 2, 2018, the IoT Acceleration Lab will start a call for applicants for the “Seventh IoT Lab Connection” featuring theme-based project organization and business collaboration among companies. The theme is “smart life.”

In addition, on September 18 (Tue.), 2018, the IoT Acceleration Lab will hold a business matching event for the IoT Lab Connection based on the results of the call.

Taking this opportunity, the IoT Acceleration Lab will also hold a commendation ceremony for recognizing selected regions as winners of the Fourth IoT Lab Selection as Local IoT Acceleration Labs on the same date.

1. Purpose

With the technological advent of IoT, AI and big data, the structures of industries and society are seeing significant changes. In response to this situation, the IoT Acceleration Lab aims to create advanced projects utilizing IoT in Japan and to implement the results in society, and to this end, it has been undertaking certain efforts, including the review of necessary regulations and systems therefor, demonstration projects for the development of environments (for e.g., stipulating new rules across industries), and a feasibility study on which these efforts are premised.

These efforts have been steadily bringing about new business in which IoT, AI and big data are utilized. To establish an IoT ecosystem in Japan, the IoT Acceleration Lab will continue to engage in new activities.

2. Outline of the project

The IoT Acceleration Lab will hold two events: the IoT Lab Connection and a commendation ceremony for recognizing winners of the Fourth IoT Lab Selection as Local IoT Acceleration Labs, which are kickoff events of a series of IoT Lab Selection activities in FY2018.

The IoT Lab Connection will focus on “smart life” as a theme, one of the five prioritized fields under the Connected Industries policy, and provide a business matching event targeting IoT Acceleration Lab member companies or corporate groups, associations and municipalities that have needs and seeds involving everyday lives, such as homemaking, child rearing and health.

At the event, businesses are expected to offer proposals for new products and services contributing to realization of affluent lives, including solutions to social challenges, for e.g., aging society and the declining of labor population, women empowerment and working-style reforms.

We are looking forward to receiving your proactive application.
