Aiming to ensure the development of human resources that will pave the way to future industries and regional revitalization in Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has been advancing discussions for realizing Learning Innovation -“Future Classroom.”
As one of the efforts to achieve Learning Innovation, a system for developing new types of learning, METI is promoting a series of demonstration projects titled “Projects for Promoting Collaboration between the Education and Society (Projects for Making Further Innovations in Learning)” under the FY2017 supplementary budget. This series of projects aims to develop new educational and other programs that take advantage of EdTech and other advanced technologies.
Commemorating the inauguration of the series of projects, METI will hold a kick-off event for a platform of Learning Innovation -“Future Classroom” Project, bringing together participating businesses, from 16:30 on July 26 (Thur.), 2018.
1. Outline of the event
Date and time: July 26 (Thur.), 2018; from 16:30 to 19:30
Venue: Lecture hall on the second basement level, METI Main Building
- Explanation of the overall design of the demonstration projects and introduction of adopted projects,
- Panel discussions by participating businesses and other stakeholders, etc.
- Explanation Explanation of an additional call which will be open to the public after this summer
Following the programs, METI will hold a networking event at a restaurant on the first basement level (B1) in the METI Building.
The kick-off event will be open to the public. If you wish to attend the event as an observer, please visit the following website and complete prior registration procedures by July 23, 2018. Please note that if the number of applicants exceeds the maximum capacity of the venue, participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

2. Details of the participating businesses selected as operators of the Projects for Making Further Innovations in Learning
From May 15 to 29, 2018, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a secretariat of the demonstration projects commissioned by METI, called for applicants interested in becoming operators of the demonstration projects and, based on the opinions of the external advisors, selected the businesses that will become operators of the projects.
