METI Exchanges Framework Document with MOI, Thailand

To upgrade the Thai industrial structure while drawing lessons from the Japan's Connected Industries policy concept

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Industry (MOI), Thailand, exchanged a Framework Document at the Fourth Meeting of the Japan-Thailand High Level Joint Commission held on July 18, 2018.

Through the document, both sides confirmed cooperation fields to upgrade the Thai industrial structure taking advantage of Japan’s Connected Industries policy concept.

Details of the Framework Document

In June 2017, METI and MOI signed and exchanged the Memorandum of Intent on Eastern Economic Corridor and Cooperation on Upgrading Industrial Structure. Since then, the two countries have been advancing cooperation to upgrade the Thai industrial structure while drawing lessons from the Japan’s Connected Industries policy concept.

The Framework Document aims to confirm the fields in which METI and MOI will cooperate toward upgrading the Thai industrial structure, such as in human resource development and means of support for SME growth.

Mr. Hiroshige Seko, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and H.E. Mr. Uttama Savanayana, Minister of Industry exchanged the Framework Document, witnessed by H.E. Mr. Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary, Japan, H.E. Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister, Thailand.
