Winners of the 12th Kids Design Awards Selected

Winners of the Grand Award (Prime Minister’s Award) and METI Minister’s Awards of the 12th Kids Design Awards have been selected. On Tuesday, September 25 (Tue), 2018, the Kids Design Association held a commendation ceremony in Roppongi and received a message from Prime Minister Abe. As a representative of METI, Mr. Daisaku Hiraki, the Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech on his hopes regarding the further development of “Kids Design”.

1. Outline

The term “Kids Design” herein refers to a group of ideas and initiatives for utilizing the power of design to create a social environment that will contribute to the sound growth and development of the children who will become the next generation.

The Kids Design Awards (organized by the Kids Design Association, an NPO) is a program which recognizes outstanding products, spaces, services, activities, and academic programs that realize and disseminate the philosophies of designs for kids, namely designs that contribute to the safety and security of children, designs that cultivate children’s creativity and sensibility, and designs that contribute to comfortably raising children.

2. Winners of the 12th Kids Design Awards

Under the 12th Kids Design Awards, the Kids Design Association received 468 applicants for the program and selected 252 winners for their exceptional works. Among the winners, one winner was selected for the Prime Minister’s Award, and four winners were selected for the METI Minister’s Award.

3. Commendation ceremony

A ceremony was held at Roppongi Hills On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, with a message from Prime Minister Abe. As a representative of METI, Daisaku Hiraki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, attended the ceremony to congratulate the winner of the Prime Minister’s Award and METI Minister’s Awards, and delivered a speech on his hopes regarding the further development of “Kids Design”.
