Grand Prix Winner of the Japan Healthcare Business Contest 2019 Selected

As an effort to discover and foster leaders in the next-generation healthcare industry, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), in cooperation with 107 participating supporters, held a business contest titled “Japan Healthcare Business Contest 2019” to recognize outstanding companies taking on efforts for creating new business in the field of healthcare.

In the business contest category of the event, seven finalists sorted by preliminary examination made an open-style presentation as the final examination, and METI determined Kakehashi Inc. as the Grand Prix winner among the finalists. In the idea contest category of the event, three finalists made presentations and METI offered the Excellence Award to all of them.

Moreover, METI released that it will open a new one-stop counseling counter called “Healthcare Innovation Hub (Inno-Hub)” in April 2019, aiming to encourage the healthcare industry to create and vitalize innovations through establishing networks among large companies, startups and other entities.

Grand Prix in the business contest category:

Presenter: Yutaka Nakao, CEO
Title: Project for: raising heath consciousness among patients through provision of Musubi, a medication-instruction support tool for pharmacists in pharmacies; and contributing to improved business management of such pharmacies through enhancement of efficiency in business practices among pharmacists

Title: Provision of a unique, hybrid-type program for improving the quality of sleep in which the program supports companies from both perspectives of organizations and individuals: Japan’s first effort for supporting companies’ business growth through provision of approaches to improving and managing day-time sleepiness

Title: Remohab, a new system for remote management of cardiac rehabilitation at home

2. One-stop healthcare counseling counter called “Healthcare Innovation Hub (Inno-Hub)”

METI will open a new one-stop counseling counter called “Healthcare Innovation Hub (Inno-Hub)” in April 2019, aiming to consolidate related support measures for venture businesses and other entities in the field of healthcare and to create and vitalize innovations in the field. The counter will provide counseling opportunities not only to venture businesses in the field but also to a variety of startups and other entities that need innovation and will support such consultations through leveraging networks inside and outside Japan.
