The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) hereby announces a draft report compiled on January 30 by the Solar House Promotion Committee as a result of discussions on measures to promote household use of solar power generation systems.
1. METI and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) jointly organized the Solar House Promotion Committee with the aim of promoting the greater use of domestic household use of solar power generation systems. 2. METI and MLIT set up a working group (WG) consisting of working-level representatives under the Committee. To date, the WG convened four times to hold strenuous discussions, and at the fourth meeting on December 16, 2008, discussion was conducted on a draft report of the Committee.
3. This draft report was also deliberated on at the second meeting of the Committee today. The document sets future directions for public-private joint publicity activities concerning residential solar power generation, sophisticated designs of solar panels, and the standardization of solar power generation systems.
