As an organization to implement the residential solar generation installation subsidy program for FY 2009, the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) will start accepting applications for residential solar generation installation subsidies from April 1, 2009. A brief overview of the subsidy program is provided below.
To encourage the lowering of the price of the residential solar generation systems and to promote expansion of the market with an eye to achieving the objective of solar generation introduction stipulated in the Kyoto Protocol Target Achievement Plan and other documents and enabling a mass of introduction of solar generation.
April 1, 2009 to January 29, 2010
70,000 yen per nominal output of a 1kW solar cell module constituting an eligible system
Annual subsidy budget of 20.05 billion yen to grant subsidies to about 84,000 cases
Individuals subscribing to an electricity service contract who intend to install such systems in their houses.
An eligible system must meet the following requirements.
*An organization to accept applications will be set up in each prefecture. These organizations will accept applications for the subsidies and build a system to offer information on the subsidy policies of all local authorities.

JPEA will hold explanatory meetings on applications at ten sites across Japan.
