Entering into force of the Agreement on Free Trade and Economic Partnership between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

1. The Agreement on Free Trade and Economic Partnership between Japan and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam entered into force.

2. The Agreement is aimed at enhancing the economic partnership between the two countries with a wide range of provisions including the liberalization and facilitation of trade of goods and intellectual property protection. It is expected that the entry into force of the Agreement will further vitalize the economies of the two countries and tighten their bilateral relations through economic partnership.

3. This EPA is Japan’s 11th EPA that will enter into force, following the Japan-Singapore, Japan-Mexico, Japan-Malaysia, Japan-Chile, Japan-Thailand, Japan-Indonesia, Japan-Brunei, Japan-ASEAN, Japan-Philippines, and Japan-Switzerland EPAs.

4. METI will implement this Agreement appropriately to further enhance the economic relations between the two countries.
