Green Data Center® service of NTT Data Corporation and NTT Facilities, Inc. and IT utilization leading to zero energy waste in the production lines of Yokogawa Electric Corporation win METI Minister Award.
The “Green IT Award” was established in FY2008 to further foster the Green IT Initiative through “savings in IT-related energy consumption”*1 and “energy conservation through the use of IT”*2. Following strict examination, the review board selected winners of the Green IT Award 2009 including the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Minister Award and the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau Director-General Award.

The Green IT Promotion Council launched the Green IT Award in FY2008 to further foster: savings in IT-related energy consumption and energy conservation through the use of IT, which will contribute to the construction of a society that can simultaneously achieve environmental conservation and economic growth. These will serve as two pillars of the Green IT Initiative, which includes a method to evaluate savings in energy consumption. For this purpose, the Green IT Award will be awarded to a company that achieved energy conservation through the development and dissemination of an IT device, software or service/solution utilizing such devices or software (hereinafter referred to as “IT devices, etc.”) or through the use of an IT device, etc.
Many applications were submitted to two categories: “savings in IT-related energy consumption” and “energy conservation through the use of IT.” A total of 12 IT devices, etc. were selected as winners of the Green IT Award 2009. There are six winners in each category including one winner of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, one winner of the Commerce and Information Policy Bureau Director-General Award, one winner of the Green IT Promotion Council Chairman Award, and three winners of the Review Board Special Award.
