On 27 October 2009, the first Japan and Australia Trade and Economic Ministerial Dialogue was held in Tokyo. Mr. Masayuki Naoshima, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and Mr. Simon Crean, Australian Minister for Trade discussed a wide range of bilateral, multilateral, and regional trade and economic policy issues, and signed the joint statement.
1. On 27 October, Mr. Naoshima, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and Mr. Crean, Australian Minster for Trade held the first Japan and Australia Trade and Economic Ministerial Dialogue in Tokyo.
2. In this meeting, the two countries discussed a wide range of issues such as trade and investment, economic partnership, natural resources and energy, and the WTO (World Trade Organization) etc. on a bilateral and multilateral, and regional basis.
3. As results of the dialogue, the two Ministers signed the Joint Statement of the First Japan and Australia Trade and Economic Ministerial Dialogue.
