APEC Japan 2010 Symposium
The APEC Japan 2010 Symposium will be held on December 9 and 10 at the Hotel Nikko Tokyo.
1. The APEC Japan 2010 Symposium will be held on December 9 and 10 at the Hotel Nikko Tokyo.
2. Japan will act as the chair of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2010. During the year, Japan will host the APEC ministerial and other meetings in many parts of Japan. In November 2010, the APEC Economic Leaders’ and Ministerial Meeting will be held in Yokohama.
3. This symposium is aimed at bringing together experts from industry, academia international organizations and government to discuss main issues ahead of the APEC Japan 2010 meeting. Participants, including academics, business leaders and government officials from the Asia Pacific region, will conduct discussions on the Bogor Goals* and the future of APEC; regional economic integration, including the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment, and the concept of a Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP); and strategies for prosperity in Asia-Pacific.
*Bogor Goals
These goals stipulate that free and open trade and investment be achieved by 2010 in industrialized economies of APEC and by 2020 in its developing economies (adopted in November 1994 at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Indonesia).
