Dear press members,

Thematic exhibition “MONODZUKURI EXHIBITION”
Invitation to our press preview on Friday, March 12, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno, Tokyo

Prior to the official opening of our thematic exhibition called “MONODZUKURI EXHIBITION,” the National Museum of Nature and Science will hold a press preview as follows.

A special guided tour by our researcher in charge of the project will be offered during the preview. We would like to invite journalists to this tour so that they can learn more about monodzukuri.

Date Friday, March 12, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (registration starts at 2:30 p.m.)
Place National Museum of Nature and Science (7-20 Ueno Park, Taito-ku, Tokyo)
Registration Entrance of the administrative building of the National Museum of Nature and Science

Five minutes’ walk from the Park Exit of JR Ueno Station; ten minutes’ walk from Tokyo Metro Ginza Line/Hibiya Line Ueno Station; ten minutes’ walk from Keisei Line Ueno Station

Preview program

2: 30 p.m. Registration starts (at the side gate)
3:00 pm. to 5:00 p.m. Preview of the exhibition room (in the Planned Exhibition Hall, Japan Gallery 1F)
- The researcher in charge will provide a guided tour of the exhibition and answer questions.
- Photo shooting in the exhibition room will be permitted.

Profile of the researcher in charge

Mr.SuzukiKazuyoshi Suzuki
Head of the Division of History of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Engineering

Suzuki specializes in the development process of Japan’s science and technology (especially in the early modern to contemporary periods). He collects, surveys and studies materials directly related to traditional and modern technologies as well as contemporary industrial technologies. His broad spectrum of research ranges from mechanical dolls and mining/measuring techniques in the Edo period and shipbuilding and spinning in the Meiji period, to automobiles, aircraft and rockets of today.
