Assets Freeze and Other Measures on Those in Violation of the Arms Embargo against Somalia

In accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1844, Japan will impose an assets freeze and other measures on one entity and eight individuals in violation of the arms embargo against Somalia appointed by the Sanctions Committee of the Council.
(1) Contents of the measures
With a public notice by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (promulgated on June 25), Japan will take the following measures under the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Law from June 25 for the entities and individuals specified as those in violation of the arms embargo against Somalia:
1) Payment regulations
Permission is required for every payment to those specified by the public notice from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2) Capital transaction
Permission is required for every capital transaction (such as deposit agreement, trust agreement and money lending agreement).
