Release of Annual Report on the Office of Intellectual Property Protection (2010)
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and related ministries compiled and released an "Annual Report on the Office of Intellectual Property Protection", which summarizes measures that the government took to combat counterfeit and pirated goods in the past year.
1. Purpose of the Report
This is an annual report compiled every year to summarize the activities of the government’s Office of Intellectual Property Protection pursuant to the "Intellectual Property Strategic Program" (adopted by the Intellectual Property Strategy Headquarters). Its purpose is to provide relevant information primarily for Japanese industries.
Since 2006, the report has been prepared by METI, which operates the Office of Intellectual Property Protection, in cooperation with related ministries (the Cabinet Secretariat, National Police Agency, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries). The fifth report has just been issued.
2. Configuration of the Report
The main text is for “Report on the Office of Intellectual Property Protection” and the exhibit shows “Current Situations of Counterfeit and Pirated Goods”.
