Fully entry into force : April 2000 (passed June 1995, partial entry into force April 1997)
The aim of the Containers and Packaging Recycling Law is to reduce the amount of garbage generated, by promoting more effective use of resources in containers and packaging waste, which accounts for about 60% of household waste (by volume). The basic principle of this law is that every player has a role to play in recycling. Consumers should separate their waste according to category, municipalities should collect the separated waste, and businesses should recycle what has been collected into new products.
